.jpg) Pastor Michael Philliber has been with Providence Presbyterian Church since June 2002. BackgroundPastor Philliber spent 20 years in the U. S. Air Force, traveling all over the United States, and even spending two years in Turkey. He retired from the Air Force in 1999, finished seminary (Reformed Theological Seminary - Jackson) in 2000, and was ordained 11 February 2001, at Pickens Presbyterian Church, Pickens Mississippi. Pastor Philliber has been married to Anna Marie (Reichert) Philliber since 6 October 1979, and has four children, one of whom is married, and three living at home. Call to MinistryPastor Philliber grew up in a fairly religious home. But when he was about 11 years old, things changed in his home, and his family quit going to church. Then for the next 8 or 9 years he began pursuing other lifestyles. After entering the Air Force in 1979 (that's when he got the tattoos), he married his High School friend, which had a wonderful and sobering effect on him. Some time later, he began returning to his Christian roots, and started going back to church. Finally, when he was stationed at Incirlik AB, Turkey (1981-83), the LORD got a hold of him. His wife was also converted after moving to Turkey. After a couple of years, Pastor Philliber was stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida. While there, he became the minister of the Church of Christ at Key Largo. He was minister there from 1983 to 1989. His pilgrimage continued, and in 1992, he and Anna left the Church of Christ sect altogether, becoming fully persuaded that Calvinism was the more Biblical understanding of the Scriptures (see: The Basics: Growing in Christ for those basic, Biblical reasons).
